If you’re just glancing at the title of this blog entry, you might have chuckled. How can any marriage be perfect?
You’ve probably already guessed that I’m not talking about traditional marriage here. What I am talking about is the interest my company has in both the bowling industry, and developing websites. Computers have interested me since the days of writing code line-by-line, punching cards, and running the stack of them through a mainframe computer that basically filled the room. Add in the internet (thank you, Al Gore!) and I was in computer heaven. Around the same time, I got interested in bowling, and like many people who are avid about a hobby, I got hooked. The marriage of the two meant I got to design things for the internet on a subject I was already passionate about.
More importantly, when I designed for a bowling industry client, I not only totally understood the industry I was designing for, but I was the customer they are trying to reach! I got to design for me! That translates into a lot of intuition, and ease of communication.
So then, what happens when I design a website for a client where I DON’T have that understanding? The simple answer is, I have a comparison point in my head that is the basis for my understanding. I ask detailed questions. I get you to teach me like I’m a 5th grader. I want to understand you and your business or service so that I can do the best job possible in presenting you on your website.
Interested? Give us a call and let’s chat about it. My business is with me wherever I go. There’s no closing time here.
